Your Eye Exam
Once you arrive at our office, please check-in at the registration desk. You will be given a welcome form to complete in our reception area. A certified ophthalmic assistant will greet you and initiate your eye evaluation. The assistant will review your ocular, medical and family history, evaluate your vision and take special eye measurements.

Next, you will see Dr. D'Antonio. Dr. D'Antonio's provides comprehensive eye examinations including refraction with the use of optometric glasses or contact lenses.

Often, you will receive eye drops that require 10 to 30 minutes to dilate your eye. The eye drops may blur your vision, especially for close work, for 8 to 12 hours. Once you have received your eye drops, you are escorted to the examination area to rest until your eyes are fully dilated. Our technician will point out materials pertaining to your particular situation that you may wish to peruse or take for future reference.

Most patients can expect to spend at least one hour in our office for an initial visit. Special consultations may require more time. Please let us know if there is anything special we can do prior to your arrival to make your visit more productive.

Referring Doctor Follow-up
If another doctor referred you to our office, Dr. D'Antonio will send your doctor a consultation letter detailing her examination findings and recommended treatment plan.

Health Insurance
Prior to your departure, you will see our health insurance staff. We participate in most local, regional and national health insurance plans. Our fees are competitive and similar to those established throughout New Orleans. Payment is expected at the time of service and we will assist you in processing your insurance claims. If your insurance requires a referral from your primary care physician, it is essential that you obtain this prior to your appointment and bring it with you on the day of your examination.

Follow-up Care
If necessary, a return appointment will be scheduled for you prior to your departure. All annual and bi-annual visits are scheduled by mail.
